It requires that you have Microsoft Word installed, but images are exported, tables preserved, and other nice details come through.

It's [Pandoc](http://www.johnmacfarlane.net/pandoc/) on steroids. The cool part, though, is that it has an [API](http://marksy.arc90.com/learn) that you can incorporate into all kinds of tools (e.g. the [Sublime Text package](https://github.com/thomscode/Marksy-Convert)).

MultiMarkdown 4.3.1 released

#blogit #markdown #multimarkdown | In case you missed it, Fletcher Penney's MultiMarkdown now includes inline footnotes with a very simple syntax. Just use `[^this is the footnote text]` and it gets converted to a link and a footnote at the end. Super/sub text was recently added as well (`^/~` prefix).  The upcoming Marked 2 release includes the latest version of MultiMarkdown, inline footnotes and all.

The results are emailed to you, along with any image attachments. Tested it and got nearly perfect results from most documents that were created in GDocs originally. Ones that were the result of HTML import or other scripts I run had more trouble, but that makes perfect sense. Potentially a very handy tool. Version control and collaboration with full diff views, Markdown, publishing, tweeting (with stats), and export to local files, Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote, Box, even an FTP server. Also, word count, reading level scores, image upload and linking, notes and comments, all in a plain text editor that's beautiful to look at. I have to list all of this because [the dev](https://twitter.com/natekontny) isn't documenting it nearly as fast as he's adding cool stuff!

#blogit #documentation #markdown | Speaking of documentation projects in Markdown, Puppet Labs has a cool system here that runs [their documentation](http://docs.puppetlabs.com/):  > The combination of github and Markdown is really powerful for us. It's *possible* to clone our docs site repo and submit pull requests, but it's even easier to just click the "edit" button on Github, make a few changes, and save. Github turns the edit into a pull request we can either accept on the spot or pull into a separate branch for further work. Markdown makes that process so much more accessible and less error prone than it would be if we were using HTML for initial markup.
